Testing and Selection

Competency-based Approach

For us, designing valid and reliable skills tests begin with identifying and defining the competencies required for success in real-life jobs. ValueBridge has years of collective experience working with competencies – identifying, defining and categorising competencies and proficiency levels. We have thus utilized a competency-based approach to the test design. The competencies in the different focus areas as well as proficiency levels in those competencies are used as a guide in determining the knowledge areas to focus and the levels of difficulty of the questions. The test questions are infused with practicality by experienced professionals to ensure that candidates with practice and experience have an upper hand in answering the questions. Based on the experience of the test designers, the questions test both the body of theories in the focus areas that are relevant for effective performance on the job as well as skill in the use of those theories.

Varying Levels of Difficulty

ValueBridge tests provide flexibility in the difficulty mix of the test questions being provided. Thus the difficulty level of the questions are adjusted by using the proficiency level descriptors of each competency being tested, structure of questioning and use of multiple choice answers.

Test Administration

Test administration involves providing an atmosphere for candidates to write tests that can have a valid and reliable outcome.  For the best outcomes, effective and consistent implementation includes training administrators to follow specific assessment guidelines and procedures which we can also assist clients to develop. Effective administration ensures that no candidate has an unfair advantage because of his/her unique and confidential access to assessment items or other information.

ValueBridge Testing Services offers both proctored testing and supervised unproctored on-line testing.  In proctored testing, trained human proctors monitor applicants, sometimes individually, through the entire testing process. In our Supervised Unproctored Internet Testing an on-site supervisor verified applicant identity and provides test support and the right atmosphere. However, takers complete the tests online without being supervised. Our user-friendly online testing application comes with sample tests and timer built into the tests to allow test-takers navigate through the entire testing process without the aid of a test proctor.
